Web Sustainability Index 1.0 is a digital tool created by design agency 1508 to deliver engaging design and exceptional user experiences with the lowest possible carbon footprint. They achieve this through a method called Low Carbon Design.

To effectively reduce the carbon impact of digital products, they needed reliable tools to measure website performance and offer insights for improvement. Existing tools provided data but lacked actionable advice. To solve this, they launched their carbon audit tool on August 12, 2024.

The tool allows users to assess a website’s performance, page weight, and carbon footprint, and to compare them with competitors. It also offers tailored recommendations to reduce environmental impact, which sets it apart from other tools. The tool is user-friendly, visually appealing, and minimalist, aligning with low-carbon principles.
