Lighting rural bike routes with solar-powered design.

Cyclists navigating rural bike routes often lack safe, sustainable lighting, making night travel risky and limiting the usability of infrastructure after dark.

Traditional solutions are costly, carbon-heavy, and disruptive to wildlife, contributing to light pollution while offering little flexibility in remote areas.

LightPost offers a smarter alternative. Powered entirely by solar energy, this sleek, self-sustaining fixture lights Denmark’s super cycle highways without grid connection or emissions. Inspired by the cattail plant, its slender, sculptural form integrates solar panels

on all sides, maximizing energy collection. A soft, high-mounted LED ring casts a warm, glare-free glow that guides cyclists while protecting nocturnal ecosystems.

Built for both longevity and adaptability, LightPost is low-maintenance and modular, designed to evolve with future smart technologies such as motion sensors or air quality monitors. By merging design, ecology, and innovation, this solution proves that a simple light can enhance safety, protect biodiversity, and support climate goals at the same time.
