A medical device protecting women's perineum during childbirth and outerwear made from festival tents are among the 30 design solutions nominated for Danish Design Award 2026 – demonstrating the true breadth and depth of Danish design.
The nominees for the Danish Design Award 2026 are officially in. You are invited to meet the minds behind the solutions and explore their work at Designmuseum Danmark on September 9, 2026, for a special open event.
30 well-thought-out designs have advanced in the running to win one of the prestigious awards when the ceremony takes place on November 5, 2026.This year’s field features broad representation – among the finalists, you will find everything from medical equipment, aesthetic interiors, and visual identities to innovative materials and architecture. Their shared thread? Improving everyday life and making a positive difference. The Danish Design Award gives these high-impact designs the stage they deserve.
Among this year’s finalists is Oasicare with their solution ASISU, which reduces the risk of Perineal tears during childbirth. It is a piece of medical equipment that distributes pressure from the baby against the tissue during delivery, thereby reducing the risk of skin tears, which 80–90% of all women experience during childbirth.
“We hope that ASISU can help change something that for far too long has been accepted as an inevitable part of giving birth. Our ambition is to create a simple tool that can complement the immense work midwives already do every day – while giving more women a childbirth experience with fewer injuries, less pain, and a better start to the postpartum period,” says Ditte-Marie Fog Ibsen, Co-Founder of Oasicare.

Another finalist is OUR SHIFT, which collects discarded festival tents and transforms them into outerwear, accessories, and custom-made products. The tents are gathered from Danish and international festivals, after which they are sorted, cleaned, and disassembled.“We hope to change how people see discarded materials. An abandoned tent is not simply waste, but material with colours, details and traces of its history. We want to show that these constraints can become the starting point for bold, contemporary, high-quality fashion, and a new aesthetic that could not exist without them.” says Milan Flíček, Creative Director at OUR SHIFT.

Linda Nhu Laursen, who as a jury member for the Danish Design Award helped select the 30 finalists, says about this year’s field:
"This year’s nominated design solutions demonstrate that Danish design continues to build on a strong tradition of improving people’s lives through thoughtful, inclusive, and lasting solutions. The designers show both courage and curiosity in challenging established norms and bringing new perspectives into play. Common to many of this year’s projects is an awareness that design should not only create value for people, but also contribute to a more responsible mindset regarding resources,” says Linda Nhu Laursen, who is Associate Professor and Head of Research at the Aalborg University Design Lab.

The finalists are evaluated by an independent jury consisting of key figures from both the Danish and international design communities – including LEGO, VELUX, Muuto, Kvadrat, and Dezeen.

The main Danish Design Award 2026 event will be held on November 5 at Nørrebro Teater in Copenhagen, where the business sector and design industry gather to celebrate design that makes a difference. A series of design awards will be presented, including Young Ideas, which highlights promising projects from emerging design talent.
