Vireo is a plant-based material produced by Hemp Bio and is primarily made from the wonder crop hemp. It is made with more than 70% hemp fibers and is topped by an anti-scratch layer of polyurethane – which is also partly bio-based. Thanks to this top layer, it offers a tactile patina and can be colored, patterned, and embossed in virtually infinite ways.
Hemp for Vireo is harvested in Northern and Central France, then taken to Normandy for multiple layered carding. After that, it is sent to Italy, where it is dyed and treated with a partly bio-based polyurethane coating. Vireo unites the latest technologies with long-forgotten craft skills, creating a new, patented process.
