The foundation started out as TV Glad in 1999. Today the Glad Foundation has 334 employees and 150 students with makes the Foundation one of the largest socio-economic businesses in Denmark. Just about half of the employees are employed on special terms due to cognitive challenges.
The Jury says
For various reasons, it can be difficult to include people with disabilities in collaborations and projects even though you really really want to. The fact that Glad Fonden has made an organization where it is viable to engage people with cognitive challenges into so many different contexts is just fantastic. There can be only one winner – this one truly speaks for itself. We need to create more purposeful jobs for people with disabilities.
