SubReader helps dyslexics by reading aloud the subtitles on foreign movies – without annoying other people in the cinema. This enables them to participate in social events, without being stigmatised.
The Jury says
This is design as a means of social inclusion. It provides new access to movies in both theatres and at home for dyslexics. 7-10% of the world’s population suffers from dyslexia and are not able to follow subtitles. Due to the inability to read, they often refrain from social events, like movie nights. The technology behind SubReader is great, the aesthetics of the design itself more basic.
