The purpose of this design solution is to find alternate materials and ways to reuse scraps and waste from ECCO's shoe production in order to make new, degradable materials.
The Jury says
Just like clothing, recycling of materials for shoes is an important topic. Around 300 million pairs of shoes become waste every year. ECCO’s collaboration with Kolding Design School to address this issue from a Danish design and craft perspective is an important starting point for discovering long term solutions.
