Reimagining transportation modes is necessary to address air travel and its associated climate impact.
EC 24/7 is a design proposal for reintroducing Danish night trains with connections to Central Europe. The proposed service aims to offer a wide range of passengers a green alternative to air travel that is both pleasant and affordable while also being economically viable for the operator.
The solution is a new type of train that operates both day and night, designed explicitly for DSB’s forthcoming fleet of electric long-distance trains. At the proposal’s core is a reinterpretation of the intimate sleeping cabins that have long-defined European night trains. A new cabin, which converts for day and night use, is arranged so passengers no longer face each other but instead face the passing landscape.
