Clever Café rethinks the roadside stop as a place to recharge – not just your car, but also your body and mind. Known for its electric charging stations, Clever has partnered with architecture firm COBE to create a thoughtful alternative to the traditional petrol station.
Instead of neon signs and gasoline fumes, Clever Café offers natural materials, open space, and a quiet atmosphere. The building is rooted in the landscape and brings nature inside through large glass façades, greenery, and an honest material palette – where wood is wood, and steel is steel.
There’s no “order here” counter. Guests are greeted by hosts, and the experience is timed to match the car’s charging session, so the break feels natural and unhurried.
Sustainability is part of everything – from the architecture to the seasonal ingredients. The menu is short, 90 % organic, with minimal waste and prices comparable to a standard service station.
Few choices. High quality. A simple, well-designed stop that makes the road break feel worth taking – not just time to pass, but time to enjoy.
THE JURY SAYS
Clever Café reimagines the roadside stop as a calm and welcoming place shaped by honest materials and a strong sense of atmosphere. The modular building blends into the landscape and invites nature inside, offering a tactile setting for both people and vehicles to recharge. Its seasonal and largely organic menu is priced like an everyday petrol station, yet delivers a far richer experience. By replacing queues with hosts and creating space over clutter, it turns EV infrastructure into cultural infrastructure.
Clever Café shows how even the shortest break can be reimagined with care, responsibility and quiet joy.
