Hân Pham

Founder of Yellowone Design

Hân Pham trained initially as a jewellery designer and later graduated as an industrial designer from Design School Kolding in 2005. Based in the Danish city of Aarhus, Hân is Danish and has a Vietnamese background.
She specialises in addressing complex issues that often require insight and cooperation with other disciplines, including biology, anthropology, cultural geography, philosophy and sociology. Her design solutions are always shaped to match their intended users and usage contexts. She has a unique capacity to reduce huge and complex data sets to simple and universal design solutions that everyone can understand and use – regardless of national boundaries and cultural backgrounds.

During the past 12 years, Hân has mainly worked with the development of products, services and communication in the healthcare field, where her design solutions have made a real difference for staff, patients and patients’ families. In her free time, she mentors new design graduates and plays an active role in promoting Danish design and its relevance abroad.
Hân’s goal is not only to create good designs but also to have a positive impact on people through her design work and design thinking.
In 2007, Hân received the Index: Award for her used-needle container, Yellowone Needle Cap, which has since been included in the permanent collection at MoMA in New York City. In 2016 she won a Danish Design Award for her hand sanitizer dispenser, Yellowone Handsafe, in the category ‘Better Work’. The product is now in the process of being commercialised in Denmark and several other European countries.
