Sara is a graduate of Kolding School of Design. Originally, she used her textile knowledge to propose air-purifying panels for cities, but when the global pandemic emerged, pivoted her idea to create comfortable face masks that eliminate bacteria. She is now working in the UK with scientists and her own company, Breathe Smarter, to realise her idea.
The Jury says
No one likes to wear masks, but if we have to they should look and feel good to wear. The research that shows Sara’s mask to be 99.95% successful in removing airborne bacteria sounds promising and timely. Sara’s work shows how a fast pivot can be made through design thinking and doing.
