The Portable Solar Distiller is a low-tech and versatile solution utilizing sunlight to distill polluted seawater, providing fresh water and a shaded gathering place. It merges local resource production with community architecture, offering anyone in the world the recipe to create their own Portable Solar Distiller from existing resources.

The jury says
Access to clean water is one of the most pressing challenges of our time. It is mainly limited to the privileged few. The Portable Solar Distiller demonstrates the power of design by providing a solution that, despite limited access to essential resources, can produce 12-18 liters of water a day. This solution is a highly viable option for many communities still facing problems associated with primary resource access and waterborne diseases.
