53 design solutions will compete to win Denmark’s national design award, Danish Design Award. The Award is a collaboration between Danish Design Center and Design denmark and celebrates good design in a wide range of categories, including healthcare, the environment, and the workplace. The winners will be announced at the Danish Design Award ceremony on November 25th.
A dispenser for hand sanitizer, a fertility tracking device, a city bike, and a digital canary that monitors indoor climate. These are a few of the 53 design solutions that are among the finalists for Danish Design Award 2021.
The solutions span a wide range of categories, from healthcare and education to saving resources and improving work life, but together they form an overall picture of what is happening in Danish design right now – in companies, in education, and in society as a whole.
The finalists are selected by an international expert jury, and according to jury chairman Christina Halskov, they reflect the most positive forces in design. “The designers and companies behind the solutions clearly demonstrate how good design can help tackle the challenge of climate change, resolve conflicts between human beings, provide new opportunities for inspirational learning, and break with habitual ways of thinking. This year, we have also seen several brilliant solutions that respond to the COVID pandemic and makes a positive difference at a difficult time. It can be something as simple as a dispenser that makes more people use sanitizer, or an online platform that turns digital conferences into a positive experience.”
All the finalist solutions can be viewed on the Danish Design Award website.
The Danish Design Award ceremony is a collaboration with Fredericia Furniture and the Danish Arts Foundation and will be live-streamed on November 25. The winners will be celebrated at a reception in The Confederation of Danish Industry on December 9.
