This year’s finalists span 12 categories, including healthcare, saving resources, and the workplace. The winners will be announced at the Danish Design Award ceremony on June 2nd.
An app that teaches kids quantum physics, a parquet floor made from surplus wood, and a digital communication tool that adapts letters to the sender’s emotions. These are just three of the 48 finalists for Denmark’s national design award, Danish Design Award 2020.
The individual finalist solutions vary, but together they form an overall picture of what is happening in Danish design right now – in companies, in education, and in society as a whole.Whether it is new approaches to learning, new furniture design, or different types of interaction between digital platforms and the physical world.
All the solutions can be viewed here.
This year’s finalists illustrate the positive forces in design as well as the most immediate focusareas in the field, according to jury chair Christina Halskov:
“The finalist solutions make us trust in the fact that positive change is possible, and they demonstrate the willingness of designers to help solve the climate challenge and conflicts between human beings, to adapt to people’s needs, to create new possibilities for inspirational learning, and to break with habitual ways of thinking, for example by using artificial intelligence for the benefit of both human beings and the planet.”
The Danish Design Award ceremony is a collaboration with DI – Confederation of Danish Industry and will take place June 2nd in Industriens hus.
