A solution for improving school toilets using behavioural design
The Jury says
School toilets are difficult places to maintain hygiene and cleanliness, and there are many problems associated with them. If toilets are not used properly and hygienically, there can be serious health consequences for many people. The design team proposed a modular system that was built and installed at Solyst school. It includes a variety of behavioural “nudges” particularly around the washing of hands – which is an urgent and important concern. Both the children and their parents, not to mention the school staff have had a very positive response to the solution, which can be replicated elsewhere.
