A baby bottle for fathers and non-binary caregivers, the first Danish electric long-distance train, and a ground-breaking hospital for children, young people, and pregnant women are among the 25 design solutions competing to win Denmark’s most influential design prize, the Danish Design Award. A total of seven prizes are up for grabs
This year’s Danish Design Award will be presented on November 19, 2024. Today, it was revealed which Danish design solutions are competing for the seven prestigious awards.
Among this year’s finalists are, for example, the first Danish electric long-distance night train, a silicone feeding bottle that enables everyone, regardless of gender, to breastfeed their child in natural positions, and a ground-breaking concept for the hospital of the future for children, young people, and pregnant women.
Out of the 25 finalists, 20 are nominated for the five main awards and the Best of the Best award, while five solutions are nominated for Young Ideas – an award dedicated to promising design projects in an early development stage.
“The 25 finalists show an exciting balance between Danish design tradition and innovation. The field emphasizes the width of Danish design today,” says this year’s jury chairman, CEO, and Creative Director, Kaave Pour.
The Danish Design Award aims to celebrate the positive difference that design makes every day for our behavior, society, and the world. Kaave Pour adds:
“The finalists show how Danish design moves beyond its classical roots, tackling critical new areas such as climate action, digital innovation, and social services. It’s clear Danish design continues to thrive, expanding its impact and demonstrating its relevance for the future.”
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on November 19, 2024. The evening will be held at the Danish Architecture Center, which, like DDC – Danish Design Center, is based in the BLOX building in the center of Copenhagen.
