Wrap a K-rail with a bicycle rack, a bench, a climbing wall and a flower bed, and show that design can create a simple yet subtle symbol as we protect our streets against terrorist attacks.

The jury says
Over a number of years they appeared as part of the cityscape: ominous concrete blocks designed to protect pedestrians from terrorist attacks. As an unintended side effect, they made us feel more at risk and powerless. In the course of a few weeks, TagTomat (Roof Tomato), using simple means, transformed the concrete barriers and the associations they spark. This playful, activist solution gives something back to the people living in the city and exemplifies how design can set a new agenda and inspire hope and courage, even on the darkest background.
